PRESCHOOL
Start your child off on the right foot with Bloom Learning Centre’s half-day preschool classes. We offer fun and interactive preschool classes for children who are 3-5 years of age (or turning 3 by December 31st of the school year). The course is based on three very important foundational objectives: socio-emotional development, intellectual development and physical development, with intellectual development being the primary focus.
Our program is a kindergarten preparation course designed to prepare children to be successful when they enter the school system. The preschool classes provide your child with a solid foundation for lifelong learning and help to develop a positive attitude towards learning experiences. Fun and engaging activities achieve curriculum-focused learning objectives such as early numeracy skills, colour and shape recognition, fine motor and printing skills and crucial early literacy skills such as letter recognition and letter sounds. Students will also learn logical thinking skills, technological literacy, vocabulary development and social skills. Our teaching techniques include circle time instruction, large group discussions, individual reinforcement activities and group play and exploration to achieve the set learning objectives for our preschool programs.
Children are also encouraged to learn through participation in special events, guest speakers and general social interaction and observation.
• Class Times are: 9:00-11:45 a.m.
• Drop off is between 8:45-9:00 a.m.
• Pick up at 11:40 - 11:45 a.m.
• Pick up and drop off services are available to students attending the adjacent YMCA childcare centres. Contact us for details.

Choose between morning or afternoon classes, with options to have your child attend either one, two or four days per week. All skills are covered in all courses, however, the four day class allows for more time to be spent on learning objectives and more opportunities for concept reinforcement. It has been our experience that students who attend our four day program demonstrate additional growth both socially and academically.
Bloom accepts preschool registrations for the current school year up until January 1, 2025 provided space is available. Contact us today regarding availability in our current classes.
Montessori Methods
Practical Life
This area focuses on enabling children to become more independent in school and at home. By practicing these practical life skills your son/daughter's confidence will improve and they will excel in other areas of learning.​​
Sensorial Learning
This involves students learning with their senses, activities include identifying smells, textures, sounds, symbols, and tastes. By using their senses, they will be able to associate them with specific items and expand their minds and knowledge.​
Language
Students will work on pre-reading and pre-writing skills. Montessori methods work on giving background knowledge in order to make the process of reading and writing easier. Students will work with letter recognition, letter sounds, and building simple key words. ​​ ​
Mathematics
Students will again work with pre-math skills, similar to our Language Area. Students will work on recognizing numbers, values, units of measurement, working with number families etc.
More Montessori
Bloom Learning Centre focuses on the Montessori approach, where children are able to focus on their interests using real life materials and the teacher is a guide to the students, rather than facilitator. Here at Bloom, we encompass practical life, sensory learning, and beginning language and math skills to allow your child to be not only better prepared for Kindergarten and elementary school, but also life. Following the Montessori approach, we also have a huge emphasis on nature and focus on care of the environment. Our school also has other areas for play, art, music, circle time.
